Description
QOwnNotes is intended to be both basic and adjustable to user needs. This software allows users to create, edit, and then manage their notes in plain text, providing Markdown support to people who want to add format to their notes using a light markup language. A person will be able to do everything from casual note-taking to complex project documentation.
Core QOwnNotes is able to create folders and subfolders, allowing users to keep their notes organized. Real-time syncing via cloud services such as Nextcloud or own Cloud will ensure users’ notes are updated across multiple devices. This open-source software means users can access even the code and, if need be, change it according to their need.
Besides note-taking, QOwnNotes has the ability to manage to-do lists and integrate with a calendar, as well as link together notes. It does support tagging within the software, which lets users systematically organize their notes that can be much faster retrieved later on. QOwnNotes full-text search is capable of finding any given information with ease.
Overview
QOwnNotes has a couple of reasons to shine. The foremost would be that it is free, open-source, thus allowing it to be free to use and free to modify. The software is in active development at the hands of an active community of developers; hence, it keeps it sharp and secure.
While many note-taking applications lock users into proprietary formats, QOwnNotes stores everything as plain text files, meaning your notes are accessible and portable without requiring proprietary software.
Deep integration with cloud services like own Cloud and Nextcloud established the flexibility of an application level, barely seen in the software for note-taking. You can synchronize your notes across other devices, share them with others, but still fully keep control over where and how it will be kept. This makes QOwnNotes ideal for users valuing both convenience and privacy.
QOwnNotes is vastly customizable when it comes to user interface. You can switch between themes, tinker with layouts, and configure custom keyboard shortcuts, among other things. This means that the user can customize QOwnNotes according to their workflow. More importantly, for a developer, this tool supports Markdown, letting him write or edit code snippets or documentation with much ease.

QOwnNotes also features powerful integrations with other productivity tools. For instance, it can work with a calendar to schedule reminders or deadlines for tasks. Further, it has a built-in scripting that really extends the functionality through custom scripts.
